Of the last 12 players chosen No. 1 overall pick, nine played quarterback, and the Rams' need at that position trumps the potential impact of Ndamukong Suh.

2. Detroit Lions

Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska | 6-4 | 307

While some think Lions want a left tackle to protect Matt Stafford, Suh is the best player in this draft and Jim Schwartz is defensive-oriented coach.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Gerald McCoy, DT Oklahoma | 6-4 | 295

The Bucs' highest draft choice since they chose Vinny Testaverde No. 1 overall in 1987, and they get McCoy who might be the top choice in another year.

4. Washington Redskins

Trent Williams, OT Oklahoma | 6-5 | 315

Mike Shanahan shifts into stealth mode for the draft. While in Denver, he never let on he loved Jay Cutler back in 2006. Washington is a candidate to trade out of this spot.

5. Kansas City Chiefs

Bryan Bulaga, OT Iowa | 6-5 | 314

Some see this as too high for Bulaga, but Chiefs GM Scott Pioli and Bulaga's college coach Kirk Ferentz share a common link in coach Bill Belichick.

6. Seattle Seahawks

Russell Okung, OT Oklahoma State | 6-5 | 307

A month ago, Okung was considered the top tackle available in the draft and now he's the third one chosen? Seattle has no complaints about that.

7. Cleveland Browns

Eric Berry, S Tennessee | 6-0 | 211

Along with Suh and McCoy, Berry is one of the three most NFL-ready prospects and he may be headed to St. Louis if Browns wind up trading to top of the draft.

8. Oakland Raiders

Anthony Davis, OT Rutgers | 6-5 | 323

There are questions about his passion, but Davis he has all the physical tools, and we all know how much the Raiders value athleticism.

9. Buffalo

Bills

Jimmy Clausen, QB Notre Dame | 6-3 | 222

Coach Chan Gailey would prefer a little more mobility in his quarterback, but Clausen's a polished passer with a perfect delivery, a great value at No. 9.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars

Rolando McClain, MLB Alabama | 6-3 | 254

Top in a relatively thin class of middle linebackers, and many have suspected the Giants might be trading up to find a replacement for Antonio Pierce.

11. Denver Broncos

Dan Williams, DT Tennessee | 6-2 | 327

Denver already signed Jamal Williams at defensive tackle, but this Williams is a building block for the future.

12. Miami Dolphins

Derrick Morgan, DE Georgia Tech | 6-3 | 266

Morgan fits the specs for an elite edge rusher, and he had 12.5 sacks last season. He is clearly the top prospect at defensive end, one of the league's most valuable positions.

13. San Francisco 49ers

Joe Haden, CB Florida | 5-11 | 193

Haden is the top cornerback, but speed is a question. This would be two consecutive years no corners chosen among the top 10.

14. Seattle Seahawks

C.J. Spiller, RB Clemson | 5-11 | 196

Some think Spiller will be chosen in the top 10, others think Ryan Mathews will be first running back chosen. Seattle wants to trade down, but what if Spiller is there?

15. New York Giants

Jared Odrick, DT Penn State | 6-5 | 304

One of the most versatile defensive linemen available, he's got the power to hold his position at the point of attack.

16. Tennessee Titans

Sergio Kindle, DE Texas | 6-3 | 250

The Titans lost Kyle Vanden Bosch in free agency, and they need to replenish the pass rush. Pierre-Paul has great tools, but Kindle has longer history of production.

17. San Francisco 49ers

Mike Iupati, G Idaho | 6-5 | 331

He's a road-grader of a guard, a potential All-Pro who will work well for a coach whose dedicated to building an effective ground game.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers

Maurkice Pouncey, C Florida | 6-4 | 304

Denver is also high on Pouncey, and if the Broncos trade down in the draft order they will consider him, too.

19. Atlanta Falcons

Dez Bryant, WR Oklahoma State | 6-2 | 225

The Falcons are hungry for a playmaker to pair with quarterback Matt Ryan, and Bryant is most talented receiver in this class.

20. Houston Texans

Ryan Mathews, RB Fresno State | 6-0 | 218

Steve Slaton is coming off neck surgery and has struggled with fumbles so the Texans are in position to choose a well-rounded alternative.

21. Cincinnati Bengals

Kyle Wilson, CB Boise State | 5-10 | 194

Bengals don't have a need at cornerback, but drafting the best cover man in this draft is too great a value to pass up at No. 21.

22. New England Patriots

Jermaine Gresham, TE Oklahoma | 6-5 | 261

New England lost tight ends Ben Watson and Chris Baker, making this position one of urgent need for Bill Belichick.

23. Green Bay Packers

Charles Brown, OT USC | 6-5 | 303

Time to pick some offense? Packers haven't drafted an offensive player in the first round since choosing Aaron Rodgers in 2005.

24. Philadelphia Eagles

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE South Florida | 6-5 | 270

An athletic marvel whose relatively shallow body of work also makes him a risk. A junior-college transfer, he started seven Division I-A games in his career.

25. Baltimore Ravens

Rob Gronkowski, TE Arizona | 6-6 | 264

Ravens continue reloading their passing game after acquiring receiver Anquan Boldin and signing Donte Stallworth.

26. Arizona Cardinals

Jerry Hughes, DE TCU | 6-2 | 255

Hughes is considered a tweener by some teams, but he could be a playmaker on defense for a team that lost Karlos Dansby and Antrel Rolle.

27. Dallas Cowboys

Taylor Mays, S USC | 6-3 | 230

Dallas has had success with big-bopping safeties, first with Roy Williams and later Ken Hamlin, whose release leaves an opening in the secondary.

28. San Diego Chargers

Jahvid Best, RB California | 5-10 | 199

Chargers have a void at running back and while there are concerns about Best's durability, his big-play potential is tempting.

29. New York Jets

Brandon Graham, OLB Michigan | 6-1 | 268

Relentless pass rusher who has evoked comparisons to LaMarr Woodley, and Rex Ryan can never get enough of a pass rush.

30. Minnesota Vikings

Brian Price, DT UCLA | 6-3 | 303

Vikings have had two of the league's top defensive tackles for years now. Price could be someone who keeps that true for years to come.

31. Indianapolis Colts

Rodger Saffold, OT Indiana | 6-4 | 316

Colts have a need at tackle, and Saffold has steadily climbed up draft boards to the point he's a first-round consideration.

32. New Orleans Saints

Sean Weatherspoon, LB Missouri | 6-1 | 239

The Saints lost linebacker Scott Fujita, but picking Weatherspoon would allow the Saints to replenish that position.
