Seahawks blanked for Pro Bowl
The league announced Pro Bowl rosters Tuesday, and for the first time since 2000 the rosters won't include a single Seattle player.
Seattle Times staff reporter
The league announced Pro Bowl rosters Tuesday, and for the first time since 2000 the rosters won't include a single Seattle player.
Former Seahawks guard Steve Hutchinson, now a guard with Minnesota, made it. So did fullback Leonard Weaver, now with Philadelphia. But Seattle was one of six teams in the league not to have a player named to the Pro Bowl roster. Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Kansas City and Tampa Bay were the others.
The Vikings led the league with eight players chosen to the Pro Bowl, while Dallas, Indianapolis and Philadelphia had six apiece.
It's the first time in nine years Seattle hasn't had a player chosen to the Pro Bowl. Last year, linebacker Julian Peterson and tackle Walter Jones were chosen.
Minnesota's Brett Favre is going to his 11th Pro Bowl, and Indianapolis' Peyton Manning is bound for his 10th.
Notes
• New Orleans Saints defensive end Bobby McCray was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving while intoxicated and other counts, police said. McCray refused to take a breathalyzer test. A person suspected of driving drunk in Louisiana and refusing the breath test automatically loses his license for one year.
• Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman could miss the season finale against Detroit after breaking his ribs during the 36-30 overtime win over Minnesota.
• The Atlanta Falcons signed former Baltimore Ravens kicker Steve Hauschka after Matt Bryant suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win over Buffalo.
• Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu may not be ready to play Sunday in Miami.
• The Detroit Lions say quarterback Matthew Stafford has undergone successful surgery on his right knee.
• The Denver Broncos signed free-agent tackle Herb Taylor.
