Darryl Tapp says he never bit Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers quarterback told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that the Seahawks linebacker bit him during last year's game.

Seattle Times staff reporter

RENTON — Darryl Tapp had one pressing question after hearing that Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers alleged that Tapp bit him on the biceps in last year's Packers-Seahawks game at Qwest Field.

How?

In the locker room after Thursday's practice, Tapp put on his helmet with its full-cage facemask to demonstrate that an arm just wouldn't fit inside there.

While his teammates laughed at the ridiculousness of the whole thing, Tapp made it clear that he didn't find it funny.

"It tries to mess with my reputation," he said. "I'm working on a reputation of being a clean player. Within the whistles, you know."

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Rodgers said Tapp bit him on his left biceps during last year's 27-17 Packers victory.

"I looked down and my arm was hurt and it felt like a bee sting," Rodgers said, according to the Journal-Sentinel. "I was looking down and he was biting my arm so I had to get his teeth off my shoulder."

Tapp was incredulous, repeatedly denying it. He also wondered why he'd never heard anything about it until this week.

"If I bit him, why wouldn't he tell someone earlier to get it reviewed to get me fined?" Tapp asked. "I know if somebody bit me, I wouldn't just forget about it until next year."
