Player of the game
Andre Johnson, Houston receiver, caught 11 passes for 193 yards, the third-highest receiving total ever by a Seattle opponent. The record is 243 yards set by Wes Chandler of San Diego in 1985.
Play of the game
Houston's first play resulted in a 64-yard touchdown pass to Johnson, who ran right by Seattle cornerback Marcus Trufant. The Seahawks were playing quarters coverage, dividing the field into fourths, and Johnson ran right past Trufant.
Injuries
Wide receiver Nate Burleson suffered an ankle injury after a third-quarter reception and will undergo a magnetic-resonance image (MRI) test this morning. Linebacker Aaron Curry suffered a hip-pointer in the fourth quarter, but X-rays showed no fracture. Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh took a hard fall on his head in the fourth quarter, but is expected to be OK. Seattle's pride also took a serious whupping.
He said what?
Coach Jim Mora: "As slim as our playoff aspirations were, they were there. They're not there anymore."
Who's this No. 89?
Seattle's No. 89 caught three passes, including Seattle's only touchdown, and looks like he could be a heck of a receiving threat. Oh wait. That's John Carlson. Sorry. Forgot he was an eligible receiver after catching four passes in the previous four games combined before Sunday.
By the numbers
336 yards passing by Matt Schaub in the first half, tied for third-most in a half by any NFL player since the league began keeping track in 1991.
