Is Seahawks' Walter Jones hinting at retirement or just kidding?
Seahawks All-Pro tackle Walter Jones caused some concern with two posts from his Twitter account, but others aren't worried.
Seattle Times staff reporter
Seahawks tackle Walter Jones prompted a ripple of concern Friday with two posts from his Twitter account hinting he might retire.
Teammate Lofa Tatupu said he texted Jones this week and scoffed at the idea that there was much to it.
"Get off Twitter. Get off Facebook. Get off MySpace," Tatupu joked.
Jones, 35, is on injured reserve, lost for the year after failing to recover from two knee surgeries in the span of nine months. He is rehabilitating in Florida.
Jones could not be reached for comment, and his agents did not return multiple phone messages.
The first Tweet came at about noon PST and read: "I think I have had a great run at this thing the NFL and seahawks and the fans hve (sic) been great to me."
The second was made about 20 minutes later: "There is no easy way to give something that you have been doing for s (sic) long time."
No one with the Seahawks said they'd heard anything about a Jones decision. In September, he used his Twitter account to allude to a serious decision he faced in his comeback, so tough he might need help making it. It turned out he was joking about seeing a Tyler Perry movie.
