Editor's note: Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck answered 50 questions in an hourlong live chat Wednesday. Here are some of the highlights. For the complete text, go to seattletimes.com/sports.
Matt Hasselbeck: Hi, everyone. Just finished practice. ... Haven't showered ... haven't eaten. Hopefully my answers won't be too grumpy. My mom says I'm grumpy when I have low blood sugar!
Q: So how are your ribs doing since you were sacked five times last week?
Hasselbeck: Ribs are feeling better. I can sneeze with confidence now.
Q: Who is the player you're closest with? What brings you two together?
Hasselbeck: I'll go with Craig Terrill. We've talked about going with a Late Night Show comedy routine in the future. (He would obviously be Ed McMahon ... and Kevin Eubanks all at once.)
Q: Team looked terrible on Sunday. What went wrong?
Hasselbeck: Where do I start? We were 0 for 11 on third down. Seven of those were third-and-10-plus. We need to do a much better job on first and second downs so we can be in manageable third-down situations.
Q: What are your realistic expectations for the rest of the season?
Hasselbeck: All our goals from training camp are still attainable. All of them.
Q: Man, you killed my fantasy team last week!
Hasselbeck: Mine, too.

Q: You should have a talk show.
Hasselbeck: Working on an FM morning show deal as we speak. Classic Rock station.
Q: Thoughts on the green unis?
Hasselbeck: Everyone older than me hates them. Everyone younger than me loves them. I like them!!
Q: How close were you guys to holding open tryouts for a receiver last season?
Hasselbeck: My 6-year-old daughter Mallory wore a uniform to a game last year "in case anyone else gets hurt and they need me." ... Seriously.
Q: When I have a bad day, I hit happy hour ... when you guys have a bad game, how do you "unwind"?
Hasselbeck: Jim Zorn gave me some good advice. He told me to pick a spot on my commute home and decide to let football leave your mind at that point and prepare to enter the house as a husband and father. Great advice.
Q: What are you looking at when you study photos on the sideline?
Hasselbeck: We look at still black-and-white pictures of the play. One picture pre-snap and one post-snap. (Not high-def though. Please explain why!!) While I'm on it: NFL film that players and coaches study isn't high-def either. My kids watch Sesame Street in high-def!!!
Q: Are you a big soccer and Sounders fan?
Hasselbeck: Sounders games are way more fun to watch now that I know the rules. (I am a season-ticket holder.) It's always fun watching world-class athletes in their sport.
Q: Brother Tim Hasselbeck (on ESPN) just stated the Seahawks may not be mentally tough to deal with adversity. Try to create some sibling rivalry, and beat down a younger brother?
Hasselbeck: I think his question is a good one. We have to be mentally tougher than ever, given our tough start. We have to pull together and continue to trust in each other and buy in.
Q: Who is your favorite NFL player of all time?
Hasselbeck: Bert Jones.
Q: Will your rib injury allow you to do the "Worm" on a TD celebration?
Hasselbeck: Maybe. Might have to go with a "Moonwalk."
Q: When are you going to appear on "The View"?
Hasselbeck: Never.
Q: Do you keep in touch with Mike Holmgren?
Hasselbeck: I've only seen him once since he retired. Ran into him at the Medical Teams International Field of Dreams event this summer. He was getting ready to baby-sit some grandkids while his wife and daughter volunteered in the Congo. He seemed a bit nervous. I'm sure it went well ... not that sure ... but I hope it did.
Q: Do you take the kids trick-or-treating, or do you stay home to hand out the candy?
Hasselbeck: Usually a couple of rookies will stay home and pass out the candy. I walk around with the kids. Last year I went as the Burger King King. Need a costume idea for this year. Maybe Jay Buhner or Freddie Ljungberg?
Q: Of all the stadiums you have played in, is Qwest truly the loudest?
Hasselbeck: The energy at Qwest is the best. I love when they raise the No. 12 Flag — it gives me chills every time.
