MINNEAPOLIS — Quarterback Brett Favre's debut as a Minnesota Viking was unspectacular — a predictably brief performance in a 17-13 exhibition victory Friday over Kansas City.

Cheered loudly by some of the same fans who used to loathe him when he played for the Green Bay Packers, Favre played two series and went 1 for 4 for 4 yards. The three-time league most valuable player, who was a New York Jet last season, moved around reasonably well; his passes had zip, but little direction.

Tarvaris Jackson, whose job was taken when the 39-year-old Favre ended another retirement this week, was 12 of 15 for 202 yards and two touchdowns for Minnesota (2-0). Favre, an unusual sight in a purple No. 4 jersey, walked off the field after absorbing a jarring hit from linebacker Corey Mays of the Chiefs (0-2).

Favre, welcomed with a standing ovation, said, "I just didn't want to fumble the snap."

Tony Romo completed 18 of 24 passes for 192 yards to help Dallas (1-1) beat Tennessee (2-1) before 75,720 in the first football game at the $1.15 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Titans punter A.J. Trapasso forced a do-over when he kicked a ball into the bottom of the massive video boards above the field.

Falcons 20, at Rams 13

Matt Ryan was 7 of 8 for 81 yards as Atlanta (1-1) defeated St. Louis (1-1).
