Brett Favre, Vikings coach Brad Childress reportedly will meet this week
Citing an anonymous source "with direct knowledge of the discussions between the two parties," ESPN reported Tuesday that quarterback Brett Favre is scheduled to meet with Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress later this week about a possible comeback.
MINNEAPOLIS — Citing an anonymous source "with direct knowledge of the discussions between the two parties," ESPN reported Tuesday that quarterback Brett Favre is scheduled to meet with Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress later this week about a possible comeback.
Both Favre and his agent, Bus Cook, have said this spring the three-time league most valuable player intends to stay retired. But the 39-year-old Favre's statement after he was released from the reserve-retired list by the New York Jets last week seemingly left the door open.
"At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football," he said.
Vikings sign ex-Husky Garcia
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota signed ex-Washington Huskies center Juan Garcia of Yakima.
Garcia was brought to a rookie minicamp that included most of the Vikings' draft picks and several rookie free agents.
Garcia lacked a contract during the minicamp, but took advantage of the opportunity to impress coaches and earn a contract.
Despite injuries, Garcia ended his UW career last year with 37 consecutive starts.

"It was a private meeting between Mike and coach Dungy and a positive meeting," said Vick's agent, Joel Segal.
Vick, 28, is serving a 23-month sentence for bankrolling a dogfighting conspiracy. He is to be transferred May 21 to home confinement in Hampton, Va., through July 31.
