RENTON — The Seahawks retained 12 assistant coaches from last season, but neither of their coordinators.

Offensive coordinator Gil Haskell and defensive coordinator John Marshall were among the four coaches not retained in the transition to Jim Mora as head coach.

Keith Gilbertson, the former UW coach who joined the Seahawks staff in 2005, also was not retained. He coached wide receivers last season.

"Although in talking to Gilby, he is excited about other opportunities," Mora said. "Gilby wants to be a guy that is a big-picture guy, that maybe has a chance to call plays. Not necessarily as a position coach."

The fourth coach who was not retained was Dwaine Board, who coached Seattle's defensive line.

Robert Prince has been hired to the staff as the wide-receivers coach. He joins offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, defensive coordinator Casey Bradley and defensive-line coach Dan Quinn as new coaches on the staff. There is one remaining opening on the staff at defensive-backs coach.

Note

• Seahawks linebacker Julian Peterson is going to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for Tampa Bay's Derrick Brooks. Peterson will be the Seahawks' only representative in Hawaii.

Seattle left tackle Walter Jones was selected for the ninth time but will not play because of an injured left knee.

Jones is being replaced by Dallas' Flozell Adams, who is going to his fifth Pro Bowl.
