NFL | T.O. breaks out with 213 yards

IRVING, Texas — With Tony Romo scrambling, Terrell Owens kept chugging down the sideline. Once the pass went up, Owens went to work.

He caught the ball and turned upfield, getting pushed out of bounds after a 52-yard gain. Then he kept going, drawing more attention. With all eyes and TV cameras on him, Owens stretched his arms out to form a T, then curled them over his head to form an O.

Yes, T.O. is back.

Bottled up all season, and his frustration starting to show, Owens broke out with seven catches for 213 yards and the Dallas defense played great when it had to, helping the Cowboys beat the San Francisco 49ers 35-22 Sunday.

"They unleashed me today," Owens said, smiling.

Can you say, pull?

BALTIMORE — Donovan McNabb was 8 for 18 for 59 yards with two interceptions and a fumble in the first half — a miserable 13.2 quarterback rating — before being benched by Andy Reid in Philadelphia's 36-7 loss at Baltimore.

"It was something I thought needed to be done at the time," Reid said after his last-place team slipped to 5-5-1 without scoring an offensive touchdown. "I thought it might be a little bit of a spark and we might be able to get some things going."

If you judge the decision based solely on statistics, Reid made the right call, but that's like saying the winner of the local beauty pageant really stood out because she wasn't missing all her teeth.

Kolb had the better numbers. His passer rating was 15.3 compared to a 13.2 rating for McNabb. Kolb only turned the ball over twice as compared to three turnovers by McNabb. Kolb passed for 73 yards. McNabb passed for only 59.

Note

• Jacksonville receiver Matt Jones, facing a three-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, will have his appeal heard Dec. 4. Jones said he will attend the hearing in New York. He hopes to have the suspension reduced.
