Matt Hasselbeck won't play in Seahawks' game at San Francisco

Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will miss his third straight game. Seneca Wallace will start for the Seahawks on Sunday at San Francisco.

Seattle Times staff reporter

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will miss his third consecutive game, coach Mike Holmgren said on his radio show this morning on 710 AM (KIRO).

That means Seneca Wallace will start his second straight game, in San Francisco on Sunday. If Seattle loses, it will be 1-6 for the first time since 1992, a year the Seahawks finished 2-14.

Hasselbeck has not practiced since he was injured early in the Seahawks' Oct. 5 loss to the Giants. He suffered a hyperextended knee in the game, but the following week was found to have a weakness in his leg caused by a bulging disk. He is working a rehabilitation program on that injury at the team's headquarters, but must pass a strength test before he can play.

He has not passed the test, which would allow him to return to practice.

This will be the ninth game Hasselbeck has missed in five seasons. The Seahawks are 4-4 in the eight games he has missed.
