Matt Hasselbeck, Seneca Wallace won't practice Wednesday

Coach Mike Holmgren is unsure if quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will practice the rest of this week

Seattle Times staff reporter

RENTON — Matt Hasselbeck won't practice Wednesday afternoon because of a sore knee.

Backup quarterback Seneca Wallace isn't expected to be at practice, either, after re-injuring his calf muscle during the morning workout.

That will leave third-string quarterback Charlie Frye taking most of the repetitions. The Seahawks have been injury-riddled at wide receiver for the first four games of the season and now they're running out of people to throw the ball.

Hasselbeck suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the New York Giants when he was caught between Giants linemen Fred Robbins and Justin Tuck. He suffered a hyperextension of his right knee, but was able to finish the game.

Holmgren described him as sore and didn't know if Hasselbeck would practice Thursday or Friday.

"If Matt didn't practice all week and could play on Sunday, I would welcome him with open arms," Holmgren said. "He has to play."
