The Seahawks signed a pair of new free agents Tuesday.

Well, not exactly new. Linebacker D.D. Lewis and defensive lineman Chris Cooper were Seahawks in 2006.

Now both are back, each agreeing to a one-year contract. The signings gave the Seahawks some depth at linebacker and defensive line, positions hit in free agency.

Lewis signed with Seattle as an undrafted rookie in 2002, became a starter and played four seasons for the Seahawks. The additions of Lofa Tatupu, Leroy Hill and Julian Peterson pushed him into a reserve role. He signed with Denver as a free agent in 2007, but was released in October.

The addition of Lewis comes after the Seahawks lost backup linebackers Kevin Bentley and Niko Koutouvides in free agency.

Cooper made the Seahawks' 53-man roster in 2006, but he was released to make room for Deion Branch after the Seahawks acquired the receiver in a trade. Cooper signed with Arizona, which is where he played last season as well.

Defensive linemen Chuck Darby and Ellis Wyms have left the Seahawks in free agency.

Also, kicker Olindo Mare is expected to visit the Seahawks later this week. He is currently in Denver, which did not re-sign its kicker, Jason Elam, this offseason.
