KIRKLAND — Shaun Alexander's future remains an unanswered question.
Pinning down his present circumstances is a little easier.
Alexander was at the Seahawks' headquarters on Tuesday, he's still on the team's roster and he's continuing his recovery from surgery to repair the broken bone in his left wrist.
Coach Mike Holmgren said he met with Alexander on Tuesday. He also met with backup running back Maurice Morris, who came to the team's headquarters in the afternoon. It was Alexander's first day at the team's facility since the Seahawks reached agreements with free-agent running backs T.J. Duckett and Julius Jones last week.
Seahawks president Tim Ruskell told Alexander before free agency began the team would be looking at running backs. Now with Duckett and Jones on the Seahawks' roster, the looming question concerns Alexander's future.
Ruskell said that Alexander had not been released. When he was asked about Alexander's future, Ruskell reiterated he had not been released.
Alexander's agent, Jim Steiner, did not accept phone calls at his office Tuesday, and the representative who answered the phone said there was nothing new to report.
Alexander underwent surgery after the Seahawks' season ended to repair a cracked bone in his left wrist. He's still recovering from that, and he would have to be healthy before the team could release him, otherwise it would require an injury settlement.
Seahawks hire Dunn
Kasey Dunn, former assistant head coach at Washington State, was named running-backs coach for the Seahawks.
Dunn was most recently on the coaching staff at Maryland after working at Baylor in 2007. Before that he was running-backs coach at Arizona from 2004 to 2006. Dunn coached at Washington State under Mike Price from 1998 to 2002 and went to Alabama when Price was named Crimson Tide coach.
Dunn coached at colleges for 15 years. He was part of the NFL's minority coaching fellowship program with the Broncos in 1997 and the Seahawks in 2003.
