Crumpler will not be a Seahawk

The biggest question on Seattle's roster remains unanswered as tight end Alge Crumpler agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, according to the league's Web site.

Crumpler was in Seattle last week for a two-day visit. He is 30 and had been released by the Falcons earlier this month.

The Seahawks have Will Heller returning at tight end with Marcus Pollard and Ben Joppru as unrestricted free agents. Coach Mike Holmgren said after the team's playoff loss in Green Bay that tight end is a position at which the team would keep looking for answers.

President Tim Ruskell said this year's draft will feature an unusually deep group of tight ends. But he also indicated the team would also take a look at several veterans. The Hawks are looking for an answer at a position rife with turnover and inconsistency the past two years with the departure of Jerramy Stevens and Itula Mili -- and Pollard did not prove to be even a stop-gap solution.

Crumpler is 30, and he caught 42 passes last season in Atlanta when he started only 10 games. The health of his knees was a question, but last season was also the fifth consecutive season in which he caught 40 or more passes.

Crumpler agreed to a two-year contract with the Titans worth $5.3 million, according to CNNSI.com.

Bentley leaving

Linebacker Kevin Bentley will leave the Seahawks after agreeing to terms on a contract with the Houston Texans. Bentley played three seasons with the Seahawks, serving as a backup linebacker and special-teams standout. He will get a chance at a more prominent role with the Texans, agreeing to a three-year deal that totals $4 million.

Note

• Seattle's free-agent defensive tackles Chuck Darby and Ellis Wyms have drawn interest from Detroit, whose coach, Rod Marinelli, used to be the defensive-line coach in Tampa Bay, where Darby and Wyms previously played.
