Seahawks assistant head coach Jim Mora is reportedly a candidate for the vacant Washington Redskins' head coaching job and is scheduled to interview Thursday, according to ESPN and The Associated Press.

Mora and two Indianapolis Colts coaches, assistant head coach Jim Caldwell and defensive coordinator Ron Meeks, are to talk with Washington, AP reported. Gregg Williams, Washington's assistant head coach who oversees the defense, has already met with team owner Daniel Snyder and is believed to be the front-runner for the job after Joe Gibbs resigned last week.

Mora, who grew up in Bellevue and played at the University of Washington, was hired to be Seattle's assistant head coach and defensive backs coach last year after three seasons as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He guided the Falcons to an 11-5 record, an NFC South division title and an appearance in the NFC Championship Game in his first season (2004). His teams were 27-23 in Atlanta.

Mora, 46, has been a defensive assistant in San Diego, New Orleans and San Francisco as well as the UW. He is considered one of the top young coaching prospects in the NFL.

The Seahawks already have one coaching vacancy to fill after wide-receivers coach Nolan Cromwell was hired as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
