KIRKLAND — Josh Brown puts his pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else.

It's the battery-powered heaters Brown puts in his pants that will make the difference on Saturday in Wisconsin.

"It's stuff I use for hunting," Brown said.

Brown wears down-lined rain pants over his uniform pants when he's on the sideline during cold games. Brown said he's had those pants for three years now, and he wore them on the sideline in last week's victory over Washington.

"The ones that make me look like Frosty the Snowman," Brown said.

The extended forecast for Green Bay, Wis., calls for temperatures in the 20s on Saturday with potential snow flurries. Hence the heaters, said Brown. He'll use a couple, which aren't much bigger than an inch or two. The idea is keeping his kicking leg warm while he's idle on the sideline.

"If I was outside running around for 45 minutes of the game, it would be a different story," Brown said. "It would be no problem. But I'm standing there for 20, 30 minutes at a time."

Coach Mike Holmgren was asked about Brown's heated pants, and he responded with a blank stare for a good 10 seconds. The question came only a few minutes after Holmgren discussed quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's one-legged stocking look at practice in which the quarterback wore black tights only on his right leg, leaving the left one pale and exposed. Holmgren said he suggested his quarterback cover both legs in the afternoon.

"I'll tell you what," Holmgren said, "if my biggest challenge preparing this team is to get a sock on Hasselbeck and batteries for Josh Brown, then we've got it knocked. We're in good shape."
