Six Seahawks were selected today to play for the NFC in the Pro Bowl.
Left tackle Walter Jones, defensive end Patrick Kerney, middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu, outside linebacker Julian Peterson and first-time honoree Marcus Trufant, a cornerback, have been chosen as starters for the Feb. 10 game in Honolulu.
Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was also named to the team.
The Pro Bowl rosters were announced this afternoon on the NFL Network.
Jones, an eight-time selection and 11-year pro, was chosen for the seventh straight year. His eight Pro Bowl nods tied him with Cortez Kennedy for most in Seahawks history.
Hasselbeck is a Pro Bowler for the third time, named in 2003 and 2005. Tatupu is also a three-time selection, having made the Pro Bowl in all three seasons of his career.
Kerney, the NFC defensive player of the month for November, was also chosen in 2004 when he played for Atlanta. Kerney leads the NFL with 13½ sacks.
Peterson has spent two seasons with the Seahawks and gone to the Pro Bowl in each. The eighth-year pro will make his fourth career Pro Bowl appearance.
Trufant, who celebrates his 27th birthday on Christmas Day, is a Pro Bowler for the first time in his five NFL seasons. The Tacoma native and ex-Washington State star has seven interceptions, tied for second-most in the league.
The Seahawks have had seven Pro Bowlers twice (most recently in 2005), but never six.
Wide receiver Bobby Engram has a career high in receiving yards with 1,013 and leads the Seahawks, but was not voted in.
