Players of the Game
Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant: Intercepted three passes, returning one for his first touchdown since high school.
Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck: Completed 13 of his first 15 passes and finished with four touchdown passes to four different receivers.
Seahawks DE Patrick Kerney: Had three sacks for the third time in the past five games and has a career-high 13.5 this season.
Cardinals WR Jerheme Urban: Caught six passes for 123 yards.
Play of the Game
Bobby Engram's 15-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter had a high degree of difficulty. Not only was Engram diving, but he had to reach out with both hands to snatch the ball before it hit the ground.
Turning Point
The Cardinals trailed 27-14 when kicker Neil Rackers recovered his own onside kick with 57 seconds left in the third quarter. However, any chance of an Arizona rally evaporated when Marcus Trufant intercepted a pass intended for Larry Fitzgerald on the next play.
Sunday's Seahawks Surprises
• The Seahawks sacked Kurt Warner five times. They didn't have a sack against Arizona the first time they played in September.
• Seattle's 42 points were a season high and the most the Seahawks scored in a regular-season game since 2005.
![]()
• Seattle intercepted five passes, its most since 1999. The Seahawks have intercepted 11 passes the past three games.
By the Numbers
27 First-half points by Seattle, its highest scoring half this season.
25 Yards Shaun Alexander ran on a fourth-and-one in the first quarter, his longest run this season.
20 Interceptions by Seattle's defense this year. The Seahawks had just 28 in the two previous seasons combined.
10 Men on the field for the Seahawks on the final play of the first half, and still Jordan Babineaux managed to intercept Kurt Warner's heave toward the end zone.
5 Consecutive victories for Seattle, tied for the second-longest winning streak in coach Mike Holmgren's time as Seahawks coach.
4 Consecutive division titles for Seattle, which won only two division titles from 1976 to 2003.
Injury Report
Arizona: TE Leonard Pope suffered an ankle injury and did not return.
Seattle: WR Bobby Engram bruised his hip, but was on the field to start the second half.
Quotable
"We have to finish the regular season strong. I think we have built up something, and we are building on something that we established halfway through the season, and now we must continue to keep doing that."
— Seahawks coach
Mike Holmgren
