The Tennessee Titans could settle on a new general manager by today, or at least have a list of finalists.
Mike Reinfeldt, the Seahawks' vice president of football administration, remains a leading candidate for the job.
If Reinfeldt, the Seahawks' lead contract negotiator and salary-cap overseer, were to accept an offer from the Titans, the Seahawks would turn to Tim Ruskell, the team's president of football operations and GM, and director of player administration Jay Nienkark to handle player contract talks.
"We would, for the short term, work together. Myself and Jay," Ruskell said, adding the team eventually would have to address the position vacancy.
Nienkark has been with the Seahawks for three seasons and has assisted Reinfeldt with the salary cap and contract negotiations for most of his time in Seattle. He managed the salary cap for the Arizona Cardinals for 10 seasons before coming to the Seahawks.
Nienkark was hired to manage the salary cap for the Seahawks in May 2004, three months after Reinfeldt resigned. Reinfeldt came back to the Seahawks as a consultant in February 2005 before being named to his current title.
Notes
• The Seahawks have had talks with the agent representing kicker Josh Brown about a contract extension. Brown's contract expires March 1.
• The Seahawks reached an agreement with defensive line coach Dwaine Board. Board will enters his fifth season this fall.
