The Seahawks signed defensive end Kemp Rasmussen on Thursday.
The team did not disclose terms of the contract.
The four-year veteran had been a backup with the Carolina Panthers since making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2002.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound end has played in 50 games, with 12 defensive tackles and 45 special-teams tackles.
Rasmussen, who turns 27 next month, joins a defensive end group that includes starters Grant Wistrom and Bryce Fisher and key reserve Joe Tafoya.
Notes
• Free-agent CB Ty Law has talked to one of his former teams, the New England Patriots, about a possible return, the Boston Globe reported Thursday. Law visited the Seahawks last week, and his agent told the Globe that he was expecting an offer from the Seahawks.
• The third annual Marcus Trufant Season Celebration is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Tacoma's Wilson High School, the Seahawks cornerback's former school. The family event features autograph sessions with players. Admission is $5, and proceeds will benefit Wilson High School and the Trufant Family Foundation.
