Starbucks laptop with employee data stolen

Seattle coffee company says laptop was stolen in October.

Seattle Times business reporter

A laptop containing private information regarding about 97,000 Starbucks employees in the U.S. was stolen on Oct. 29, the company said in a statement.

The private information includes names, home addresses and Social Security numbers.

There is no indication that any of the data has been misused, but Starbucks is notifying employees whose information might have been on the laptop and offering them a year of free credit monitoring services.

Starbucks said that employees with questions or concerns about the incident should call 866-504-7368.
