Amazon names new director

Alain Monie of Ingram Micro joins Amazon board

Seattle Times business reporter

Alain Monie, president and chief operating officer of California-based technology distributor Ingram Micro, has joined Amazon.com's board of directors, the Internet retailer said today.

Monie was named to a new position on the board, bringing its total to nine members including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Monie receives 7,000 shares of Amazon stock that vest in three equal installments on the first, second and third anniversaries of his election to the board, assuming he's still a member.
