Former Starbucks CEO Jim Donald has joined the board of Rite Aid in Camp Hill, Pa.
Donald, 54, was pushed out of Starbucks in January, when Howard Schultz reassumed the CEO role.
Donald had been with Starbucks since 2002 and became CEO in 2005. Before that, he was CEO of Pathmark Stores, an East Coast supermarket chain that he led through bankruptcy reorganization in 2000. He also helped lead development and expansion of the Wal-Mart Super Center.
At Rite Aid, Donald will fill a seat vacated by a board member who resigned. Donald will complete that term ending June 2009, then stand for re-election.
Rite Aid has more than 5,000 drugstores in 31 states and fiscal 2008 revenues of more than $24 billion.
