Liberty
The boys behind the bar at Liberty — the biggest cocktail geeks around — debut their new drink menu today: six pages, 54 drinks, all discounted during happy hour. (Psst. Liberty also serves happy-hour sushi, but it's not on the menu. You'll have to ask to get the $3 special roll of the day.)
From an homage to the Kentucky rye whiskey (the Bardstown cocktail, pictured, $6), to a century-old London-inspired cocktail (Old Tom Red Ribbon, $7), the classic drinks at this Capitol Hill bar are made from scratch, meaning the Romance Language Cocktail ($7) you ordered will come from a just-cut-and-squeezed grapefruit. With its T-shirt-and-jeans, slouch-on-the-couch ambience, Liberty is a neighborhood bar where Seattle's cocktail fans also hang to chat about "pre-Prohibition-era drinks" with owner and bartender Andrew Friedman.
We told you they were geeks.
Liberty, 517 15th Ave. E., Seattle, is open for happy hour 4-7 p.m. daily, when draft beers cost $2-$3, well drinks $3, cocktails $5-$8, and sushi $3 (206-323-9898).
