Seattle Times writer Moira Macdonald muses on moviegoing
"50 days until 'The Hunger Games' "
So read the headline of an email I got today. Still haven't read the book -- I know, I know -- but will get to it very soon. (For the record, two out of four members of my book group, when surveyed, said they'd read it -- and loved it.) But it seemed appropriate to share two bits of "Hunger Games" news today, namely:
-- Upon its March 23 release, "The Hunger Games" will have a limited one-week engagement in IMAX theaters. The film was not shot in IMAX, but will be digitally remastered in that format.
-- Donald Sutherland didn't just sit back and wait to be cast as President Coriolanus Snow (excellent name, by the way) -- he wrote an impassionated email to director Gary Ross about it. This caused Ross not only to cast him, but to write two extra scenes for him.
