Seattle Times writer Moira Macdonald muses on moviegoing

One last "Potter" photo call (with update)

Posted by Moira Macdonald

OK, this is pretty cute: The young stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise posed last night in London, just before the movie's world premiere. Alas, Daniel Radcliffe apparently didn't make it in time for the photo, but how adorable do the rest of them look?

Top row: Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Nevile Longbottom). Bottom row: Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) (AP photo/Joel Ryan)

Two questions: Could anyone have predicted that young Draco Malfoy would grow up to become a junior Jude Law? And did no one tell Matthew Lewis that it was a movie premiere and he should spiff up just a bit? (Very Neville of him.) Anyway, they all look very happy and comfortable together, and it's nice to see the gang one last time.

Update (11 a.m. Thursday): I was a tad confused; the world premiere is actually today (last night was apparently just a photo op, so I'll forgive Matthew for being so casual), which is to say tonight in London, which is right now. And, should you be so inclined, you can watch a live stream of the red carpet right here, courtesy of the L.A. Times, and confirm for yourself that Daniel Radcliffe is indeed quite tiny, and that Helena Bonham Carter is wearing an excellent and very strange hat.
