Favorite movie this summer?

Posted by Moira Macdonald

It's September, there's a bit of a chill in the air, George Clooney's back in movie theaters, and I think we're ready to bid the summer movie season goodbye. Me, I've just finished putting together a way-too-big fall movie preview, to be published Sunday, so I'm definitely in a fall frame of mind. (Plenty of potentially good stuff among the dozens of movies coming up this season, but for some reason the one sticking in my mind is "Devil," simply because the premise -- a bunch of random people get stuck in an elevator, and one of them is devil -- strikes me as absolutely hilarious. I mean, don't we all have enough to deal with in a workday without Satan in the elevator? And haven't we all had a day like that? And what do you say to your spouse when you come home? "Lousy day; I got stuck in the elevator with the devil"? Am I the only one who thinks this is funny?)

Anyway, let's say goodbye to summer with a poll. I've included a handful of hits from the summer; vote for your favorite. Obviously I can't include everything, but toss your favorites in the comments if they aren't here. (I loved "Inception" and "Toy Story 3"; other summer favorites were "Please Give," "The Kids Are All Right," "I Am Love" and "Animal Kingdom.")
