Saw "Inception" last night and yes, it's pretty freaking good. More to come later, as I get the review written. But, a few thoughts:
-- Somebody brought a group of very young children -- four kids, looking like they were maybe 5 to 7 years old -- to the screening. While "Inception" (which is PG-13) is not super-violent, it is very long (two and a half hours), very complex and very much not aimed at children. While I absolutely don't recommend bringing anyone that young to see the film, I'd sure love to hear those four kids -- who, from what I could tell from across the theater, sat through it all very quietly -- explain the movie. Maybe they're busy writing their own reviews right now.
-- One particular sequence made me very regretful that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not the new Spider-Man. And it, of course, brought back memories of this famously lightfooted scene in "Royal Wedding." (Don't watch if you don't want any kind of spoiler, but this scene has already been referenced in several stories about Christopher Nolan, including one in the New York Times last week. And hey, who doesn't want to watch a little Fred Astaire on a Tuesday morning? )
