Did you hear about SJP's hair?
Posted by Moira Macdonald
It has long been a pet theory of mine that romantic comedies rise or fall on the strength of the heroine's hair. Julia Roberts' movies, for example, famously do better when her hair is long, reddish and curly; Kate Hudson is unthinkable without those long Cailfornia-blonde locks. And how fabulous does Meryl Streep's hair look in the trailers for "It's Complicated," or Sandra Bullock's in "The Proposal"? So there may be a problem with "Did You Hear About the Morgans?," starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant. Hugh's hair, you'll be glad to hear, is fine, but SJP is sporting . . . well . . . take a look:

OK; not the best picture but you get the idea. (It looks worse in the ads.) So it's not going down in the annals of movie hair horribleness, like that perm Meg Ryan seems to have gotten right before Sally slept with Harry in "When Harry Met Sally," or that thing Tom Hanks has on his head in "The Da Vinci Code." But it's sort of flat, and a strange color that doesn't flatter her, and the bangs are just a mistake. Maybe it's designed to make her look less like Carrie Bradshaw? And maybe I'm guilty of hair overanalysis, partly because my hair is doing something sort of weird today? Nonetheless, that's what's on my mind at the moment. You have been warned.
