For a Friday, some movie news from all over:

-- Clint Eastwood, the man whose energy is such that you wonder if he isn't at least partially a special effect, has another movie coming soon: "Invictus," about the post-prison life of Nelson Mandela, will open in theaters December 11. Morgan Freeman will star, along with Matt Damon. Yes, Eastwood just had two other films in theaters, "Changeling" and "Gran Torino." Yes, he's just turned 79. No, there is no reason for this news to make you feel tired.

-- Chris Pine, currently quite adorable in as James T. Kirk in "Star Trek," is in talks to join Denzel Washington in the Tony Scott-directed drama "Unstoppable," which involves a runaway train. Washington and Scott are currently teamed for "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3," which is also, sort of, about a runaway train.

-- Vanessa Redgrave, Amanda Seyfried, and Gael Garcia Bernal are all headed to Italy this month to shoot "Letters to Juliet," a rather sweet-sounding romance in which a young couple finds a letter written to Shakespeare's doomed Juliet. Gary Winick, who has some 'splaining to do after "Bride Wars," directs. Let us hope he has been sufficiently chastised.

-- And finally, for those of you wandering around asking yourselves "Why doesn't Hollywood remake 'Total Recall'?" -- well, this one's for you: Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer (who wrote "Salt," the Angelina Jolie drama currently in production) is at work on a new screenplay based, like the 1990 original, on Philip K. Dick's story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale." So, who will play the Ah-nold role? Stay tuned.
