Reichert moves office to Issaquah from Mercer Island

U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert on Thursday opened a new district office in Issaquah, a relocation from Mercer Island prompted by his 8th Congressional District's eastward shift under congressional redistricting.

Reichert, a Republican from Auburn, has six staffers at the new office at the Sammamish View Office Building. Reichert used to patrol the area during the 1970s as a King County deputy sheriff.

Beginning next year, Mercer Island will be part of Democratic Rep. Adam Smith's 9th District. The 9th District will move north, no longer including Joint Base Lewis-McChord but gaining parts of south Seattle and Bellevue and New Castle.
