Art Coday announces another run for U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON -- He dropped out of the U.S. Senate race in 2010 to run for state representative instead, only to lose.
Now Lynnwood physician Art Coday is making another bid for office -- this time aiming for U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell's seat.
Coday, a Republican, announced his latest candidacy Tuesday, 2 1/2 months after filing his official papers with the Federal Election Commission. Since then, Coday said, he has "quietly organizing" his campaign.
In 2010, Coday launched a bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Patty Murray. But he bowed out that May, saying that Republican Dino Rossi had the best shot at defeating Murray, now a fourth-term Democrat.
Cantwell's other Republican challenger is freshman state Sen. Michael Baumgartner, who is trailing far behind in fundraising.
