Memorial scheduled for state Sen. Scott White Nov. 6

Posted by Andrew Garber

A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6 for state Sen. Scott White, who died last week from a cardiac problem linked to an undiagnosed enlarged heart.

The memorial will be at 1 p.m. in Meany Hall Theater, University of Washington campus, in Seattle. White had worked as a project manager at the UW. Gov. Chris Gregoire, local elected officials and friends and family members will provide the eulogy.

Donations can be made to the Wedgwood Elementary PTSA, EarthCorps or to The Scott White Memorial Fund, which has been established at Wells Fargo, P.O. Box 95675, Seattle, WA, 98145.

The 41-year-old politician, a transit advocate and rising star in the Democratic Party, was found dead Oct. 21 at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, where he was attending a conference.

He represented the state's 46th District, covering parts of north Seattle. He joined the Senate last year and rose to serve as the Senate's majority whip, advocating for transit issues as a caucus transportation leader.
