Seattle has new website to improve service, engage public

The City of Seattle on Monday launched a new website it hopes will improve customer service and public participation.
my.seattle.gov allows residents to create and customize a Seattle.gov homepage. It also features a sign-on system so users can log in once for all city sites. The city previously had more than 50 online registration pages for different departments and programs.
Mayor Mike McGinn said the launch is “the latest step in the process of making government more accessible through technology.”
Councilmember Bruce Harrell, who chairs the Energy, Technology and Civil Rights committee, said the city hopes soon to integrate into the site utility billing, permitting, and customer- service requests for pothole filling or graffiti removal.
