Gov. Chris Gregoire is taking some heat from KING-TV for appearing dismissive of an investigation by the television station into the state ferry system.

The TV station got a sit down interview with the governor to discuss their series of stories that allege the state ferry system has wasted millions of tax dollars. But when asked about the stories, Gregoire said, "I have not seen them."

The governor said she'd been briefed on the series, but the station said Gregoire told them "she doesn't have time to watch TV and hasn't seen any of our reports."

In the interview with KING-TV, Gregoire expressed confidence in the agency heads who run the ferry system and said they had saved the state millions of dollars.

The governor's spokesman, Cory Curtis, said Gregoire is "certainly aware of the big issues within the ferry system" but does not dig into details of individual workers addressed by some of the KING-TV stories.

As for how the governor came off during the interview, Curtis said: "On TV they can clip it together to play it the way they want to."
