Susan Hutchison's transition team will be headed by state Attorney General Rob McKenna and former Seattle Mayor Wes Uhlman if she is elected King County executive.

At a Thursday press conference, Hutchison introduced other members of her prospective transition team: state Auditor Brian Sonntag, attorney James Williams, former federal Department of Labor official Walter Liang, and Dini Duclos, CEO of Multi-Service Center, a social services agency in Federal Way.

Additional members who did not attend the event include former Microsoft executive Bob Herbold, Kent Mayor Suzette Cook and Fernando Martinez, CEO of Northwest Minority Supplier Development Council.

Calling them the "finest public servants we have in the region" Hutchison said the team would help her take charge of the county's top office in a nonpartisan or bipartisan spirit.

McKenna and Cook are Republicans. Sonntag and Uhlman are Democrats. Liang worked in the administration of George W. Bush and has contributed to GOP candidates. Herbold has contributed to Republican candidates and committees. Duclos and Williams have given to Republicans and Democrats. Martinez has not contributed to local, state or federal candidates.

A new King County executive would usually take office the first week of January. But the next executive will inherit the remaining months in the term of former executive Ron Sims, who left to work in the Obama administration, and will take charge in late November after election results are certified.

Hutchison said her first priority would be to analyze the entire executive staff. She declined to name people she would hire, such as a chief of staff. She also declined to say what department heads she would replace. She insisted she would work well with county managers and officials, even though she's sharply criticized county government. She also vowed to work with her opponent Dow Constantine, chairman of the King County Council.

Constantine said he would announce a full transition team on Tuesday following election results.

He reiterated the names of advisers he has sought counsel from during his campaign and said they would also help guide his transition. Those advisors include: state Sen. Fred Jarrett, D-Mercer Island, state Rep. Ross Hunter, D-Medina, state Rep. Deb Eddy, D-Kirkland, attorney Jay Biagi, Prof. Steve Page, former Spokane Mayor John Powers, Hyeok Kim, executive director of InterIm Community Development Agency, Sumeer Singla, a wireless technology expert, Nate Miles, head of African American Agenda, an advocacy group.
