Seattle mayoral candidates Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan recently recorded their two-minute spiels for the video voters guide.

The final, polished cuts are now available through the city web site.

When the candidates record their speeches, they get a half-hour -- and the video is rolling the whole time.

That means outtakes!

Times reporter Emily Heffter and I went to the Seattle Channel last week to see whether McGinn or Mallahan had any telling moments -- blowing up at staff or something -- caught on video. After all, sometimes candidates tell you a lot about themselves in those unscripted moments.

There wasn't anything too crazy, but Mallahan did appear a bit irritated when told he couldn't get more time to do another take.

"Come on, I'm gonna be the next mayor... just two minutes?" he says in the clip. He smiles like that was a joke, but looks a miffed when he doesn't get the leeway.
