City employee enters race for Seattle City Council
Posted by Emily Heffter
City transportation planner Bobby Forch joined the race for Seattle City Council Position 8 today, meaning there are six candidates vying for the seat currently held by Richard McIver.
Forch's press release says this:
Forch is a Strategic Advisor in the City's Department of Transportation, advising staff on business outreach and contracting for projects like the King Street Station, the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Mercer Street.
His release doesn't say how he personally feels about those projects, which are sure to be discussed in the council campaigns. He does say he wants to be on the council to help improve the business climate in Seattle, build smarter infrastructure, and create jobs.
With another month still to go until the June 5 filing deadline, 17 candidates have now filed to compete for four seats on the council. For comparison, in the 2007 election, 16 candidates filed for the five seats up for election then.
Many of this year's candidates will appear at a couple forums this week. On Wednesday night, the Metropolitan Democratic Club will host a forum at 5:30 p.m. at the Labor Temple in Belltown.
And Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m., the Alki Foundation will host a "Meet the Candidates" breakfast forum. See the Web sites for more details, including information on reservations and tickets.
