House panel to consider subpoenaing Salahis

The couple who crashed President Barack Obama's first state dinner may be subpoenaed to appear before a House committee looking into the security breach.

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON —

The couple who crashed President Barack Obama's first state dinner may be subpoenaed to appear before a House committee looking into the security breach.

The Homeland Security Committee plans to vote Wednesday on whether to subpoena reality TV hopefuls Michaele and Tareq Salahi to testify.

The vote comes after the Virginia couple refused the committee's invitation to appear at a hearing last week.

The Salahis weren't on the guest list for a White House state dinner honoring the Indian prime minister last month, but got in anyway.

Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan has said normal security protocols weren't followed in the incident. Three Secret Service officers have been placed on administrative leave.
