Rybak wins re-election as Minneapolis mayor

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has locked up a third term as the leader of Minnesota's largest city.

The Associated Press

ST. PAUL, Minn. —

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has locked up a third term as the leader of Minnesota's largest city.

Rybak rolled up more than 72 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election with almost three-fourths of precincts reporting, far ahead of anyone else in a field of 11 candidates.

Rybak, a Democrat, has left open the possibility that he may run for governor.

Meanwhile, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman breezed to a second term just weeks after ruling out a run for governor.

Coleman, a Democrat, outpolled GOP businesswoman Eva Ng (ING) with 68 percent of the vote in unofficial results with 100 percent of precincts reporting. Ng had 26 percent.
