Obama turns to Web to boost health overhaul

The White House has turned to its favorite tool - the Internet - to tell the public that President Barack Obama's proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system will not result in rationing of care, euthanasia or an end to Medicare.

WASHINGTON —

The White House has turned to its favorite tool - the Internet - to tell the public that President Barack Obama's proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system will not result in rationing of care, euthanasia or an end to Medicare.

The White House on Monday launched a Web site to directly counter what it calls myths about the proposals. It includes brief videos with administration heavyweights debunking some criticism of the ambitious plan that is Obama's top domestic priority.

Obama adviser David Axelrod says the criticism of Obama's plan is nothing more than rumors and scare tactics. He says it's time for a "reality check."

Obama used a similar tactic during his presidential campaign to counter what it called smears.
