JOHN LOK / THE SEATTLE TIMES Bright blue skies shine over spectators as they gather to view Seattle Mariners pitchers as they warm up during spring training at the Peoria Sports Complex on Friday, February 17, 2012, in Peoria, Ariz. JOHN LOK / THE SEATTLE TIMES Cloudy conditions prevailed as the Seattle Mariners began a team practice during spring training at the Peoria Sports Complex on Sunday, February 19, 2012, in Peoria, Ariz.
Having lived in Seattle for most of my life, I was looking forward to soaking up the warm and sunny weather Arizona is famous for as I prepared to cover the 2012 Seattle Mariners Spring Training. True to form, it was beautiful and crystal-clear on my first day of shooting on Friday, February 17th.
Wandering around that day, I made this photo of baseball fans trying to get a peek at the athletes during pitching practice.
On Sunday, I was treated to a taste of home as big, looming clouds filled the sky. With players beginning their daily practice at 9:30AM, I put my camera right on the grass and pointed the wide-angle lens upward to capture this silhouette.
These two images contain similar compositions but were shot under different conditions. I wanted to show readers back home the overall scene from Peoria, Ariz., as I saw it.
