ALAN BERNER / THE SEATTLE TIMES
It's a full moon rising over Smith Tower seen from West Seattle in the early evening on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.
Photographer Alan Berner was out walking his dog Kiddo on Monday night and noticed how large and low the moon was. He used the compass on his iPhone to mark the location of the moonrise in the night sky. Then, he went out again tonight, Tuesday, to try to catch it in a photograph.
Though the moonrise was in a slightly different position, he was able to capture it rising behind downtown's Smith Tower from a location in West Seattle.
