Flying in the pink

Posted by Kevin Fujii

KEN LAMBERT / THE SEATTLE TIMES

Both wearing pink, Wild Waves theme park President Jeff Stock, above, and Todd Suchan, general manager, below, demonstrate the park's I-5 Dive Skycoaster on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in Federal Way, Wash. The 125-foot plunge ride was painted pink to help support fighting breast cancer. Suchan said $2 from each ride for the season will go to the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Riders, as many as three at a time, reach speeds of 60 and 80 mph. The I-5 Dive Skycoaster has a separate charge: $25 for one, $35 for two and $45 for three. About 21 gallons of pink paint were used to cover the white poles on the ride, which has been at the park since 1999. See raw video of the I-5 Dive Skycoaster in action.
