From the deck of the Heller Bar Lodge, Old Glory flies over the free-flowing water of the Snake River, looking north, 34 miles upriver from Clarkston. Some think it's time to grow a recreation economy on a restored, free-flowing Lower Snake and to do so would require removal of four existing dams. Wheat farmers, barge lines and elected officials in the region oppose this.
