The doctor who did harm | April 23
Dr. Eugene Kester, a psychiatrist who admitted to having sex with at least six of his patients, appears at a hearing before the Medical Quality Assurance Commission.
This was one of the most important stories I've ever worked on. It looked at the problem of health-care providers who were involved in sexual misconduct with their patients. For this image of Kester, I felt I had to get in tight to show the intensity and serious expression of his face. With a long lens, I filled the frame in my viewfinder, hoping to make a picture with maximum impact for a very revealing story that, in the end, not only raised our readers' awareness but also caused state officials to take action against those who may have done wrong.
