Officer Ted Rutt with the Tukwila police department peers from the 70-degree warming tent between Polar Plunges into Lake Union Friday during the Special Olympics fundraiser. One dozen police, fire, Special Olympics board members and top fund-raisers took 20 plunges Friday, one every thirty minutes into the 42-degree waters of Lake Union from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. This is a preview to Saturday's event where nearly 600 will enter the waters from South Lake Union Park in groups of 75 or so. The goal is to raise $200,000.
