Ft. Lawton ceremony
Family members of US Army veteran Luther Larkin stand to be recognized along with others Saturday during a tribute ceremony at Fort Lawton. From right are, Thelma Spann, widow of Larkin, Beverly Evans, Larkin's daughter, and Camille Glaude and Elijah Evans, great grandchildren of Larkin. A representative from the US Army formally apologized to the families of African American veterans, including Larkin, who were unjustly accused of a murder in 1944. The four family members came from Los Angeles to attend the ceremony.
