Gloria Strauss, subject of The Seattle Times' "A prayer for Gloria" series, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at the age of 11, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Kennedy Basketball coach Doug Strauss, his wife Kristen and 7 kids were in the midst of medical battles since his 11-year-old daughter Gloria had a life-threatening cancer and his wife suffered from MS. As devoted Catholics, prayer was a large part of the family's lives. In this picture, Mom (Kristen) and dad (Doug) lay hands on their daughter as the room slides into silent prayer. Invited over to pray, friends and supporters had been showing up each night in greater numbers.
